Musical Chairs Studio is dedicated to nurturing creativity and fostering a lifelong love for music education. Our Group Guitar class is the perfect experience for beginning guitarists eager to explore the world of music in a collaborative and supportive environment. One of the key advantages of our Group Guitar class is the small class size, capped at just 5 students. This ensures that each participant receives personalized instruction and support from our experienced faculty, allowing them to progress at their own pace and feel comfortable expressing themselves musically.

Students need to bring a spiral notebook. McPherson does have some acoustic guitars available for use at no additional charge. We will not be using electric guitars.

Ages:  2nd - 5th Grades

Session dates: January 12 - March 16th

Class Location: McPherson Elementary School, 4728 N. Wolcott Ave.

Day and Time: 

New Beginner Students:  Mondays 3:00 - 3:45 

Beginner Students from Fall 2025:  Mondays 3:00 - 3:45 - CLASS IS FULL

Returning Students from Fall 2025:  Mondays 3:45 - 4:30

No class on January 19 and February 16

Tuition: $155

A minimum of 4 students is needed to run each class. Classes will be limited to 5 children. Additional classes are available based on interest. Make-ups are not available for group classes. Students are expected to follow instructions from the teacher and be respectful at all times. Should discipline be an issue we will first reach out to parents. If a problem continues we may regretfully ask students to forfeit the remainder of the session to ensure quality of instruction for all students.

Guitar:  Victor Marin, a graduate of McPherson Elementary School, is a classical guitarist and teacher with over 30 years of experience teaching in both Spanish and English. Born in Mexico City, he immigrated to Chicago in 1974.

His love for the guitar began in 1985, when he started lessons in the 8th grade at the People’s Music School. After four years of study, he became the school’s first student to transition into a teaching role, working under founder and executive director Dr. Rita Simo.

Along with teaching at Musical Chairs, Victor also works with students at Linne Elementary, the Maywood Fine Arts Center, and the Northeastern Illinois University Community School. He teaches students from age five through adulthood and has experience across classical, jazz, rock, and popular styles.

Victor’s goal as a teacher is to provide students with a strong musical foundation, including music reading, proper right- and left-hand technique through scales, arpeggios, and chords, as well as theory and harmony—skills that support a lifelong enjoyment of playing the guitar.
